Unpacking communication processes one study at a time.

Welcome to the CASE LAB at Michigan State University.

Our team members are fundamentally interested in the mechanisms that explain media effects, such as: emotion, cognitive processes, attention, and biophysiological processes. Using eye-tracking, emotion tracking, heart rate, skin conductance, reaction time and other neuro-physiological measures we can examine emotion (arousal, heart rate), attention, and brain activity.

Our faculty study risk perception, health communication, and mass communication effects—but, we all share a common fascination with emotion as a mechanism explaining impacts of communication.
